This is a support
document to help our "Video CD conversion"
customers and all those with VCDs produced on a CD-R.
First, please note
that your Video is converted into Video CD
format and burned on to a CD-Recordable media(CD-R).
A CD-R is not the same
as a normal VCD (silver color)* which
you buy from a video shop.
CAUTION:
The following device cannot play VCDs produced
on a CD-R, although they can play normal VCDs:
Pioneer DV-505 DVD
Player
Philips DVD Player
Toshiba DVD Player
Sony PlayStation
Older generation PC's
DVD players with single optical read head
Most other VCD players
and DVD players have no problems
playing back BOTH normal VCDs and VCDs produced on
a CD-R.

You can use the
following VCD playback software:

OR
You can use Media
Player found in Windows 95/98.
I will explain using Windows 95.
1. Insert your VCD
into the CDROM drive.
2. Run Media
Player.
You can find
it from Start button > Programs >

If you cannot find Media Player, you must
install it with your Windows 95 installation CD.
3. From Media
Player, select File > Open.
4. Select your
CDROM drive.
5. You will see a
few directories like this:
- Cdda
- Cdi
- Karaoke
- Mpegav
- Segment
- Vcd
6. Select Mpegav.
7. You will see
one or more files ending with ".dat".
8. Double-click on
one ".dat" file.
9. You will see a
window screen open up.
10. Press the play
button, the video will start.
Some of you may
experience jittery video. You may have
to adjust the settings on your PC or close other
programs.
For older generation PCs, you may need hardware support
to play back video files.
That's it. Enjoy your
video.
* If your
player cannot play your Video CD, let me know the
* brand and the model number. I will add it to the above
* "Caution" list.
* Please e-mail me,
* Adrian Lee
*It is not practical
to produce your video on a normal VCD (silver color)
because you need a minimum of 1000 copies at one go.
