Feiyu AK4000 Review Part 2 – Panasonic FZ2500/2000 Compatibility

Is the Feiyu AK4000 gimbal compatible with the Panasonic FZ2500/2000? It is, when it comes to controlling the shutter button from the handle.

I had a chance to shoot a birthday party video using the combination.

I am so happy with the result that I want to share my experience.

Charging the Batteries

I don’t have spare batteries yet, so I want to make sure it’s fully charged. When fully charged, it should last for 12 hours. The event is only 5 hours and I may not be turning off the AK4000 throughout.

Extending the Handle

There will be many guests at the party and I want to shoot from a high angle to capture the crowd. So I fixed the extension pole which comes with the AK4000 package. The tripod goes below for an even longer pole.

Balancing the FZ2500

I have to turn on the Panasonic FZ2500 to extend the lens, because the weight distribution is not the same without extending. The best balance is when the camera stays motionless wherever you move the gimbal arms.

Controlling the FZ2500

The camera control software inside the Feiyu AK4000 does not include the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500/2000. BUT it still works on the basic level with the Panasonic Remote Shutter Control Cable provided.
