ZhiYun Smooth 4 Motor Calibration

Struggling to get your ZhiYun Smooth 4 level with the ground? These are the steps I followed that work for me.

  1. INITIAL SETUP
  2. First, turn on the ZhiYun Smooth 4.
  3. Secure your phone on the phone holder.
  4. Activate the ZY App.
  5. Go to the Smooth 4 page and click on “Connect to device”.
  6. Wait for the Bluetooth search and then click on your device ID.
  7. CALIBRATION MENU
  8. Press the “menu” button on the Smooth 4.
  9. On the phone screen, Tap on “Settings”.
  10. In the Camera tab, scroll down and select “Camera mode”.
  11. Tap on “ORIGINAL”.
  12. Tap on the gear icon or settings.
  13. Select “Calibration”.
  14. Choose “Motor calibration”.
  15. CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
  16. My problem is with the roll axis, so I’ll tap on the roll motor.
  17. Adjust the numbers, click on the checkmark, and press “Save”.
  18. Observe the correction. If it is not right, repeat the calibration procedure.

A one-degree correction worked for me.

If you are using Moment Lenses or if your phone is too heavy, you may need to get a counterweight.

  1. I calibrated my Zhiyun smooth 4 and it was fine but the next time the next time I put the phone in it went back to being imbalanced. Do I have to recalibrate every time I put the phone in?
