How to Mirror Android to HDMI Output… for YoloBox live streaming

In this video, I document how I connect my Samsung Galaxy S10 Android phone as an HDMI source for live streaming. I am going to mirror the Android interface as well as use it as a camera with a clean HDMI output… https://youtu.be/E4v6jrJW4Zo

In the past few months, I have been streaming a lot with Yolobox. In the stream, I switch between my camera, my computer, and now my phone… because I want to demonstrate mobile videography.

Not every Android device supports HDMI output, but I understand at this point in time, most of the latest high-end Samsung Android devices can work, including my Samsung Galaxy S10.

I have been using the multi-function USB-C adapters that I bought for my laptops. The adaptors convert the laptop USB-C output to HDMI video. Surprisingly, they work on my Samsung Galaxy S10!

However, they are as big as my phone. The adaptors are as big as my phone. Then I tried something slimmer.

This is the USB-C to HDMI cable by CableCreation.

I got the one with a 90-degree head, so I can use it on my favorite gimbal.

Check out the exact model of USB-C to HDMI Cable that I bought.

It’s plug and play, though I may have to check some settings on my Samsung phone by going to the Settings, Connections, More Connection Settings, HDMI mode, and set to Screen Mirroring.

I also bought the longest available, 10 feet, so that I can move around freely while streaming, especially when using the video camera mode.

How do I use my Galaxy S10 as a camera with clean HDMI output?

I use Filmic Pro, the pro camera app. Just go to the Settings, Hardware, and turn on Clean HDMI Out.

Now, I only wish there is a way to charge the phone while streaming for long hours.

I also wish that you can click the thumbs-up, share this video with your friends, and subscribe.

Oh yes, I could use the MOZA Mini Mi, because it has a built-in wireless charger.

See you in the next one!
