In this video, I’m going to show you how to use it, how it works, and why it’s a great gadget for video production. 

Let’s get started! 

What’s in the Box?

First, let’s take a look at the box. It’s a white cardboard box with the the name of the product, “Fog Machine Model Smoke B”. The box doesn’t mention the specifications, except:

• The List of Accessories
• Tank Refueling Instructions
• Various Smoke Effects

Now, let’s open the box and see what’s inside. Here we have:

• The fog machine itself, which is a black handheld device with an oil tank on top, covered by a heat shield. On the side is the function button just below the power indicator. At the bottom is the USBC charging port and the quarter-inch screw hole.
• The Mist Fan, which is used for spreading the fog in the air. The power button is on one side and the other side is the USBC charging port.
• Next, we have six bottles of fog machine fluid, which is made of vegetable glycerin, and propylene glycol. A warning note says “Not for Smoking”.
• Then we have the hard straight tube, hard bent two, silicone tube, high-pressure nozzle Liquid Smoke filter, infrared remote control, and charging cable.
• And finally, some warning stickers, a quick start guide, and the instruction manual on how to use the device.

That’s everything in the box. Now, let’s try it out!

How to Use It?

To use the Smoke B portable fog machine, you need to do the following steps:

• Charge the device fully for about three hours until the LED indicator turns green.
• Remove the magnetic heat shield. Open the oil tank silicone cover gently. Inject fog fluid into the oil tank. The oil tank can hold up to 12 ml of fluid. Remember to close The silicone cover and put back the magnetic heat shield.
• To turn on the device, press and hold the function button for 3 seconds the LED indicator turns blue.
• To turn on the smoke, press the function button twice.
• To turn off the smoke, press the function button once.

So, as you can see, it’s very easy to use.

How Does It Work?

The fog machine works by heating the fog fluid and turning it into vapor. The vapor then comes out of the nozzle as fog. The device uses a battery-powered heating element that can reach high temperatures in seconds. So keep the heat shield on and do not even touch the heat shield.

The device can create different types of fog effects depending on the mode you set up. You can create a thin layer of mist or a thick cloud of smoke. You can also create short bursts or long streams of fog. You can control all these settings with the remote control.

Next, let’s check out the accessories to create some effects.

Effect and Application

Portrait Mode – Using the hard straight tube, I can accurately hit the smoke in the location I want.

Dry Ice Mode – Using the hard bent tube and liquid smoke filter, I can make the smoke flow like a magical liquid smoke effect. No need to use dry ice.

Film Level Mist Mode – Using the mist fan, I can spread the smoke to a large area very quickly. Perfect for filmmakers shooting on location.

Incense Burning Mode – Using the High-Pressure Nozzle, I can create a compressed faster-moving smoke.

Controlled Smoke – Using the Silicone Tube, I can manually bend it and change the direction of the smoke.

Remote Control – Using the infrared remote control, I can activate the fog machine without touching it.

Movement of Smoke or Fog

Here are some examples of how we can use the different types of effects in video.

• Drifting: The smoke or fog moves slowly and smoothly in a direction, often carried by a gentle breeze. For example, “The smoke drifted from the coffee maker, creating a stimulating scent for the morning.”
• Billowing: The smoke or fog moves in a large mass that expands and contracts, resembling a cloud or a wave. For example, “The fog swelled in the corner of the room, making it hard to see the exit.”
• Wafting: The smoke or fog moves lightly and gracefully, often with a pleasant sensation. For example, “The smoke floated from the incense, filling the air with a soothing aroma.”
• Creeping: The smoke or fog moves slowly and stealthily, covering the ground or the surface. For example, “The fog crawled along the floor, making it feel like walking on clouds.”
• Rising: The smoke or fog moves upward, often from a source of heat or fire. For example, “The smoke ascended from the kettle, signaling that the water was boiling.”
• Spreading: The smoke or fog moves outward, covering a large area or space. For example, “The fog extended across the hall, creating a mysterious ambiance for the party.”
• Looming: The smoke or fog moves closer and larger, often creating a sense of threat or danger. For example, “The smoke approached from the fireplace, indicating that something was burning.”

Yes, it’s made of vegetable Glycerine and propylene glycol which is an environmentally friendly, safe, odor-free, non-toxic, and non-harmful ingredient that has no adverse health effects and can be safely used but remember not to smoke directly. Although the ingredients are safe they are not suitable for direct ingestion and high temperatures can cause Burns.
• Will the smoke set off the smoke alarm? Yes, so use it as far away from smoke detectors.
